About the Artist:
Jessica Bonilla is an artist, fisherman, and Master of Science in Marine Policy. Her work is shaped by her time as a sternman in Maine’s lobster fishery and her connection to coastal communities. She focuses on how people relate to marine environments and species, including green crabs, and how those relationships shift and adapt in response to environmental, regulatory, and social change. Working at the intersection of science, community, and creativity, she supports efforts driven by what people value and are inspired to protect. Through visual art and audio storytelling, Jessica shares knowledge, sparks conversation, and makes marine science more accessible to broader audiences.
